Demonstration: “Call it Genocide!”
November 23, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

During the remembrance week of the victims of the genocide of Ukrainians in 1932-1933 – Holodomor, we will get together to demand recognition of the artificial famine done by the soviets against Ukrainian as a genocide.
“… the large mass of independent peasants who are the repository of the tradition, folklore, and music, the national language, and literature, the national spirit, of Ukraine. The weapon used against this body is perhaps the most terrible of all — starvation. Between 1932 and 1933, 5,000,000 Ukrainians starved to death, an inhumanity which the 73rd Congress decried on 28 May 1934” – Rafal Lemkin (a Polish lawyer, who is known for coining the term “genocide” and initiating the Genocide Convention).
We are calling to join our demo Call it Genocide!, one of the most important actions. On this day, we all will become the voice of the people who a terrible famine killed because of their association with Ukraine. We will demand recognition of the soviet genocide against Ukrainians in 1932-1933 by Bundestag. The crimes in the past need to be recognized, and murderers must be named. Without justice for the past, we can not apply justice in the present.
A performance, “A wound that will never heal. In memory of Ukrainians killed by famine” will also occur within the Demonstration. In the frame of the demonstration will also be a small music performance done by a musician from Ukraine, who became to be a refuge in Berlin. She will perform with bandura “Plywe katscha po Tyssyni” (Ukrainian “Пливе кача по Тисині”) – a Ukrainian folk song and lament in Ukraine.
On 26 November, we call to participate in the Action of Remembrance of all victims: at the time of darkness, at 16 o’clock, put the candle at your window. It doesn’t matter where you are or who you are to remember killed innocent people by a totalitarian regime.
